    Project Overview:

The project consisted of the supplying and laying of new concrete yard slabs to 5nr industrial units. Firstly we had to prepare the ground by forming  trimming the type 1 subbase, before supplying and installing the steel A393 reinforcement mesh and dowel bars. We then poured a 200mm thick concrete slab using a PAV2 design mix in accordance with the structural engineer’s specification, ensuring all road forms were set-out correctly in line with the designed layout. We completed the concrete with a brushed finish whilst keeping the concrete free from rain by use of the concrete tents in order to maintain a quality end product.

    Project Challenges & Solutions:

The main challenge on this project was the weather conditions. The programme fell within the winter months, which presented us with the task to keep the concrete dry during the pouring and curing process. We mitigated this potential problem by use of concrete tents throughout the project. We also organised scheduled concrete pour dates for the predicted driest weather days
